CROSSVILLE – A Carmi woman is set to appear in court late next month after she hit a child with her vehicle around 7:20 Friday night in the 200 block of West Rudolph in Crossville.

According to the White County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy responded to the scene and noted that while in route that Crossville first responders had arrived on scene. They told the deputy the child was alert and talking with minor scrapes or injuries.

The deputy then saw 35-year-old Amy M. Flowers of Carmi and spoke to her. Flowers told the deputy she was on her way to work when she approached the intersection of Morrel and Rudolph streets. Flowers said the juvenile boy crossed in front of her on Morrel Street causing her to hit him with her vehicle. The deputy saw a grey 2007 Pontiac G6 sitting on Morrel Street just north of the Rudolph Street intersection. Flowers was clearly upset about hitting the boy.

Flowers and the deputy approached the boy’s father who said his son was okay and his bike had already been taken home. The boy has minor scrapes on his right shoulder. The father signed a refusal for treatment for the boy.

Flowers’ car had the front driver side head lamp cover broken out. The deputy checked the car’s registration. It came back clear, but expired to a Carmi man. The deputy also checked Flowers’ driver’s license and learned her driving status was revoked. The deputy spoke to Flowers about the revoked status and learned from Flowers that she was in the process of getting a restricted driving permit. The deputy explained that Flowers would be placed in custody for the revoked license and that her vehicle would be towed and impounded as well. The deputy took Flowers into custody and asked dispatch to send a tow to remove the vehicle.

Flowers was taken to the White County Jail and released to correctional officers there. The deputy issued citations to Flowers and explained that she would have to appear in White County Court on June 25 at 9 a.m. The deputy also gave her copies of the tow sheet and the impound information sheet.
