MARION – Veterans and first responders will be honored for their service and sacrifice at the 21st annual Veterans on Parade Saturday morning at 10 in Marion.
The parade will begin at Marion Junior High on Main Street and end at Tower Square Plaza where a memorial ceremony will be held following the parade.
Ed Davis, president of the Veterans on Parade organization, says over 170 units will be participating and some new things will be featured this year including four Gold Star mothers. A Gold Star mother is a mother who has lost a son or daughter while serving in the U.S. Armed Forces.
There will be two staging areas for participants. If you want to drive in the parade, go to Marion High School on Carbon Street no later than 9 a.m. If you want to walk, drive a golf cart or a motorcycle in the parade, be at Marion Junior High no later than 9 a.m.
Davis says participants should register, but if you decide at the last minute you want to be in the parade, you can show up at the staging areas and space will be made.
