CARBONDALE – You will be able to meet-and-greet the two finalist candidates for Carbondale Police Chief Thursday, from 3:30 to 5 p.m. at the Carbondale Police Department. It’s located at 501 S. Washington St.

You will be able to learn more about their backgrounds and ask questions regarding their vision for public safety in Carbondale. City officials have not released the candidate’s names.

This event is an important part of the selection process, allowing you to engage directly with the candidates and offer input that will help inform the final decision.

The city of Carbondale began the search for its next police chief back in March. Police Chief Stan Reno was appointed Interim City Manager in April of last year replacing Gary Williams who resigned for another job in the area and for family reasons. Reno also remained as Police Chief during this time and was later named City Manager in January. Deputy Chief Anthony Williams was appointed as Carbondale’s Acting Police Chief at that time.
