CHRISTOPHER – A Gorham woman is lodged in the Franklin County Jail for Aggravated Battery, Burglary, Theft and Obstructing or Resisting Arrest after Christopher Police with help from Zeigler Police responded to a report of an assault in progress at a rural Christopher home Tuesday.

According to Christopher Police, after arriving at the home, they found an 80-year-old man outside the home with injuries to his face. Police learned that the victim’s caretaker allegedly attempted to steal personal property along with money and began to physically attack the man when confronted.

Police began to clear the man’s home when a female suspect, identified as 46-year-old Jessica L. Sims, emerged from a hallway holding a knife-like object. Police were able to disarm Sims. However, while being escorted from the home, Sims began resisting arrest and physically fought with police, causing damage to the property. Sims continued resisting near the patrol vehicle. She was taken into custody following the violent encounter.
