HERRIN – The Williamson County Sheriff’s office is investigating a head-on crash that happened around 4:50 Tuesday afternoon on Illinois 148 near the Williamson/Franklin County line.

According to the sheriff’s office, initial reports on scene indicated that those involved in the crash suffered minor injuries. They were taken to area hospitals out of an abundance of caution.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, Herrin Police Department, Herrin Fire Department, Illinois State Police, United EMS, Williamson County Fire, and multiple additional agencies assisted on scene.

The roadway reopened to traffic just after 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
