HERRIN – A man is facing several charges including DUI after Williamson County Sheriff’s deputies recently saw a vehicle going south on Park Avenue in Herrin commit several traffic violations.

According to the Williamson County Sheriff’s office, this happened around 2:10 a.m. on Thursday, July 13.

At the traffic stop, the driver was identified as Donald F. Mays.

While speaking to Mays, deputies observed the strong odor of alcoholic beverage coming from his person.

During further investigation Mays failed standardized field sobriety testing and was discovered to be in possession of both cannabis and controlled substances.

He was issued citations for Failure to Signal When Required, Improper Lane Usage, Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, Possession of Adult Use Cannabis in a Motor Vehicle, and Possession of Controlled Substance.

Mays was taken to and remanded into the custody of the Williamson County Jail.
