Child Stable After Benton Police Called Thursday for Possible Drowning

BENTON – Benton Police received a medical response call to North Frisco Street just after 6 Thursday night in reference to a possible drowning of a 10-month-old child.

The child was transported by ambulance to Franklin Hospital, where the child was airlifted to a St. Louis Hospital for further treatment. The child was listed in stable condition at the time Benton Police released the information Friday.

Further investigation was led by the Benton Police Department with assistance from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, West City Police Department and Illinois State Police Crime Scene Services.  The investigation is still ongoing.

Abbott EMS, the Benton Fire Department and police responded to incident.
