(IOCI RADIO) – The Illinois Board of Higher Education is seeking a $180 million increase for state colleges and universities.
The board approved its annual budget request, which is 7.5% higher than last year’s proposal. Illinois State Higher Education Executive Director Ginger Ostro said it incudes an additional $50 million for college MAP grants and outreach to get more students to apply.
Additional funds would be release to schools, as well as boosting dual-credit programs at community colleges.
State lawmakers and the governor will review the budget request.
