Fire Destroys Ina Home Saturday Night

Fire Destroys Ina Home Saturday Night

INA – A Saturday night fire destroyed a home in Ina

According to Jefferson Fire, a double-wide manufactured home was vacant at the time of the blaze.

Around 10 p.m. Saturday, an Ameren repairman was reportedly working on a power problem and discovered the fire in a back utility room. Firefighters reported flames and smoke was showing through the eaves upon their arrival.

They were able to confine the fire to just two rooms, but flames had gone through the roof and the rest of the home had heavy heat and smoke damage.

While the fire is believed to be electrical in nature, the State Fire Marshal’s office was called to pinpoint the cause.

Firefighters were on scene for about two hours.  Mt. Vernon City, Benton, and Waltonville provided mutual aid at the scene, while Woodlawn and Wayne City covered the Jefferson Fire Station in the event of another call.
