Springfield EMS Workers Charged With First Degree Murder

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WRXX) – Two Lifestar EMS workers in Springfield have been arrested and charged with the first degree murder of a patient.

According to the Sangamon County State’s Attorney’s Office, 35-year-old Earl L. Moore died while he was in the care of Lifestar EMS workers Peter Cadigan and Peggy Finley.

Reports indicated the EMS workers were called to a home in Dec. 2022 where Moore was. The reports explain Cadigan and Finley placed Moore face down on the gurney and tightened the straps.

An autopsy was performed and found that Moore died of compressional and positional asphyxia due to prone facedown restraint on a paramedic transpiration stretcher and due to tightened straps across the back.

Lifestar Ambulance Service headquarters are located in Centralia, Illinois.
