Salem Crash Involving Fire Hydrant Results in Flooding

SALEM (WRXX) – A Tuesday afternoon crash in Salem resulted in flooding on Westgate Avenue after a fire hydrant was struck.

According to Salem police, 36-year-old Garrett Ralston of Addieville was exiting a private drive of a Westgate Avenue business when he ran off the drive and landed on the fire hydrant, resulting in the flooding of the Westgate Avenue area before Salem Public Works were able to shut off the water.

A boil order was issued for the area as a major 10-inch line was shut off while repairs were made to the damaged hydrant.
