SIU Study: National Increase of Kids Eating Edible Marijuana Products

CARBONDALE (IOCI RADIO) – A new study out of the Southern Illinois University (SIU) School of Medicine found a national increase in the number of kids ingesting edible marijuana products.

Researchers looked at data from 2017 to 2021, noting the number of reported cases of a child younger than six eating a cannabis product increase by more than 1,000%. According to SIU’s Dr. Marit Tweet…

Over 7,000 cases were confirmed during the five-year time period and nearly a quarter of those kids ended up in the hospital. Most incidents occurred in a home.
