Saline County Man Arrested for Threat Towards Harrisburg Walmart

HARRISBURG – A Saline County man was arrested after making a threat toward the Harrisburg Walmart Tuesday morning.

According to Harrisburg Police, 56-year-old Edward Hopkins of Harrisburg was located inside the store and taken into custody without incident. He was transported to the Saline County Detention Center where he was informally booked on charges of Disorderly Conduct and Making a Terroristic Threat. A psychiatric hold was also placed on Hopkins to be screened.

Police said Saline County Central Dispatch received a 911 call from a Harrisburg Walmart employee around 9:50 a.m. saying that a man had entered the store, approached the customer service counter, and told an employee that there was going to be a shooting at the store. The male suspect then walked off into the store.

It was determined that Hopkins was unarmed at the time of the incident.

The investigation revealed that there is no longer an active threat at the Harrisburg Walmart.
