(WRXX) – Visitors may notice new equipment at emergency entrances in SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon and SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia.
AI-based touchless weapons detection units, Evolv Express®, were installed Monday at both emergency room entrances.
The equipment spots concealed weapons and other threats using advanced digital sensors and artificial intelligence.
SSM said the equipment is “incredibly” accurate and can screen up to 3,600 people per hour – 10 times faster than traditional metal detectors. There is no need to empty pockets or remove bags allowing for quick easy access to the emergency departments.
Evolv Express® units are used at large venues, including Six Flags and SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.
