Multiple Fire Departments Douse Brush Fires Thursday Caused by Trash Truck

Several area fire departments spent much of Thursday afternoon putting out brush fires on Illinois 148 south of Yellowbanks Road in Franklin County into Willliamson County.

According to the Southern Illinois Fire Incidents Facebook page, the fire was caused by a trash truck dragging something that caused multiple spot fires over seven miles long. Portions of Illinois 148 had to be closed. Drivers were told to take other routes.

Franklin County Emergency Management sent out a Nixle Alert after 6 last night saying fire crews were able to get the brush fires under control and the roadway was able to reopen.
