West Frankfort Police Car Involved in Crash Sunday Night

WEST FREANKFORT – A crash involving a West Frankfort Police car and another vehicle happened around 7:15 Sunday night at the intersection of East Poplar and North Lincoln streets in West Frankfort.

According to preliminary information from Illinois State Police, the West Frankfort police car was going east on Poplar Street approaching the stop sign at the intersection with North Lincoln Street as a 2014 Honda Odyssey was traveling south on North Lincoln.

The driver of the police car, 45-year-old Justin Saillez (say-lees) of West Frankfort, did not see the Odyssey 58-year-old Darci Mandrell of West Frankfort was driving and pulled into the intersection striking Mandrell’s vehicle.

Both drivers reported no injuries. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
