Suspects Arrested for Involvement in Deadly Carbondale Shooting Monday

CARBONDALE – Carbondale Police have arrested multiple suspects involved in a deadly shooting that happened Monday afternoon.

According to a press release, the ‘ names of the victim and suspects aren’t currently available. Charges have yet to be determined.

Police said at 1:24 p.m. Monday officers responded to the 700 block of South Lewis Lane in reference to a report of shots fired. Officers found a gunshot victim and learned the suspect fled from the scene.   Officers immediately provided life saving measures to the victim and the victim was transported to the Memorial Hospital of Carbondale for further treatment.  

The suspect is described as a black male wearing a mask covering his face, black jacket, green shirt and green shorts.  The suspect was last seen running north toward east College Street.  During the course of the investigation, officers learned the victim did not survive the injuries sustained as a result of the incident. 

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, the SIU Police Department, the Jackson County Coroner’s Office, the Jackson County Ambulance Service and the Jackson County State’s Attorney’s Office all assisted in the investigation.
