Dix Man ID’d in Jefferson County Murder, Two from Evansville Ind. Charged

JEFFERSON COUNTY (WRXX) – A 46-year-old Dix man has been identified as the murder victim of a Thursday night shooting incident at his home in the Rolling Meadows Trailer Park in Dix and two people from Evansville, Indiana have been charged in connection with his death.

According to court records, 23-year-old Treyaveon Massie was charged Friday in Jefferson County Court with three counts first degree murder in connection with the shooting death of Cadias Jackson, while 43-year-old Retha McIntire, was charged with Class 4 felony conceal or aid a fugitive.

Officials said there appeared there had been a romantic relationship between Jackson and McIntire.

According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department, around 6 p.m. Thursday sheriff’s deputies along with Mt. Vernon Police officers responded to the home on a report of a shooting. They discovered resident Cadias Jackson was shot multiple times. Deputies rendered aid until EMS personnel arrived and took over care.

Jackson was transported to Crossroads Hospital, where he later died.

The initial investigation revealed the offenders fled the scene in a white van with Indiana plates. Sheriff’s Deputies and officers from Mt Vernon Police Department stopped the vehicle at Salem Rd and N. 11th Street Mt. Vernon.

Three adults from the suspect vehicle were detained at the Sheriff’s Office but one was released after questioning.

Detectives from the Sheriff’s Office and Crime Scene Technicians from the Illinois State Police to assist in the investigation. The suspect’s vehicle was impounded and search warrants were obtained.
