CLAY COUNTY (WRXX) – The 2021 Clay County murder trial of a 40-year-old Salem man remains on track for December.
Jamie Charlton is one of three men accused of the September 26, 2021 strangling death of 80-year-old Roger Courson in his rural Edgewood home.
Charlton, along with 31-year-old Walter West, of Edgewood and 27-year-old Christopher Gallatin, of Centralia, are all charged with multiple felonies including first-degree murder stemming from Courson’s death and the entry of his home. A safe, multiple firearms, and a television were reportedly taken from the residence.
Attorneys on the case Tuesday set the case for an October 21 pre-trial hearing and confirmed the case is still on track for a December 5 jury trial.
All three defendants remain in jail on the charges with bond set at $2.5 million each.
