MURPHYSBORO – The Black Diamond Family of Businesses will present an eight-foot Big Muddy Monster sculpture to the City of Murphysboro as part of the 2022 Apple Festival’s Opening Ceremony Wednesday evening.

An official unveiling of the sculpture, with chainsaw artist Josh Hays, Black Diamond representatives and city officials, will take place at 5:30 p.m. on the Appletime Stage.

Immediately following the unveiling, those interested can meet Hays and see more of his work at Brews Brothers Taproom in Murphysboro from 7 to 9 p.m.

Hays was commissioned by Black Diamond to meticulously carve a half-ton, pine log into a likeness of one of the region’s best-known legends, the Big Muddy Monster.
