MARION – Marion High School was placed on lockdown Tuesday afternoon following the discovery of an anonymous threatening note directed at the high school.
According to the Marion Unit 2 School District Facebook page, the note was found in one of the restrooms indicating that at 1:20 p.m. Tuesday a group of armed gunmen would enter the high school.
The note was brought to the office by a student and the administration immediately contacted law enforcement.
Marion Police immediately sent extra officers to the high school as a precautionary measure as well as placed the the high school on lockdown.
As a precautionary measure all other Unit #2 Schools were placed on a soft lockdown even though the threat was specific to Marion High School.
