MT. VERNON (WRXX) – A Monday night fire that destroyed a mobile home in Mt. Vernon sent one occupant to the hospital for treatment of minor smoke inhalation.
According to the Mt. Vernon Fire Department, when firefighters arrived at the home in the 1000 block of South 22nd Street, heavy fire could be seen throughout the home.
Both occupants were out, but one had sustained smoke inhalation and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
The cause of the fire has not been determined and remains under investigation by the city fire investigator.
The fire call came in at 10:14 Monday night. Jefferson County Fire Protection District provided mutual aid on the scene while Kell and Woodlawn Firemen provided change of quarters for Mt. Vernon City firefighters.
