IDNR to Host Meeting at John A. Logan to Discuss Water Issues, Solutions

CARTERVILLE (WQRL) – The Illinois Department of Natural Resources will hold a public meeting Thursday night in Carterville to discuss the state’s ongoing efforts to update the State Water Plan.

The State Water Plan identifies critical water issues facing Illinois and recommends solutions.

The meeting, one of three scheduled across the state, will occur from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Ivy Room (Room 204) on the John A. Logan College campus.

The first meeting was held Wednesday in Yorkville. The last meeting is scheduled for Monday at the Illinois Department of Agriculture Administrative Building auditorium in Springfield.

IDNR Director Colleen Callahan said as part of a statewide task force of state agencies and stakeholders, including environmental groups and agriculture organizations, IDNR is leading the effort to review and revise the state’s 40-year-old water plan.

As part of the process, members of the task force are hosting the meetings to unveil the draft report, provide a brief report overview, and describe the feedback and review process.
