(IOCI RADIO) – The Illinois State Police (ISP) announced the result of a summer firearm enforcement blitz.
From mid-June through July, the state police conducted 201 special details across Illinois to ensure those who have had their FOID card revoked do not have any guns.
ISP Director Brendan Kelly said they focused on individuals that posed the biggest threat and brought more than 1,000 people into compliance.
Kelly said those targeted lost their firearm privileges because of a new felony conviction or making serious threats against the public. In that case under Illinois law, guns are supposed to be turned over to local law enforcement or transferred to someone allowed to legally have firearms.
