Illinois Attorney General, IDFPR Warning of New Scam Involving Fake Bank Websites

(IRN) – The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) and Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul have issued a warning regarding a new scam that looks to use fake bank websites to target consumers’ personal information.

Officials said scammers create the websites to make them look like a legitimate bank website to lure consumers into thinking they’re entering their personal information to create a bank account.

IDFPR said they’ve learned of at least two such fraudulent websites.

IDFPR recommended that consumers considering opening a bank account contact their bank directly to do so.
