(IRN) – Illinois sports bettors continue to be one of the nation’s most voracious players.
According to Sportshandle, Illinois generated nearly $765 million dollars in traditional handle during May, narrowly missing out on overtaking New Jersey for second in the country. Chris Altruda with Sportshandle said two online outlets stood out in May.
Altruda said sports betting will gain steam once the NFL season begins, and Illinois may see more online outlets in the near future.
May’s betting receipts created nearly $11 million dollars worth of taxes for the state.
