(IOCI RADIO) – Gov. J.B. Pritzker signed a new law Wednesday requiring insurance coverage of continuous glucose moniters.
The wearable device provides Type 1 and Type 2 diabetics up-to-the-minute blood sugar readings and is an alternative to finger pricking. Pritzker said the law will ensure everyone has access to the potentially life-saving option.
The law will take effect in January. More than 1.3 million people in Illinois have diabetes.
