Highway Renaming Ceremony to Honor Anna Man Who Died While Serving in Iraq

ANNA – Rep. Patrick Windhorst, Sen. Dale Fowler along with Anna city officials, the Illinois National Guard and family members will all be present for the Sergeant Brian Romines Memorial Highway Naming Ceremony on Monday, June 6. at 3 p.m.

The ceremony will be held at the Union County Fair Grandstand in the Anna City Park on Herman Wright Drive in Anna.

Windhorst and Fowler partnered together to pass House Joint Resolution 42, legislation that honors the life, service, and sacrifice of fallen Illinois Army National Guard Sergeant Brian Romines by renaming the section of Illinois Route 146 between Anna and Vienna as the “Sergeant Brian Romines Memorial Highway”.

Sergeant Brian Romines of Simpson and formerly of Anna lost his life serving in Iraq on June 6, 2005. Windhorst said Sgt. Romines’ family reached out to him requesting the highway renaming measure.
