Ava Man Taken to Hospital After Crash While Avoiding Deer

CAMPBELL HILL – An Ava man was injured in a late Sunday night crash in Jackson County.

According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies and other emergency personnel responded at 11:15 p.m. to the scene of the crash on Brick Plant Road in the area of Huseman Road in rural Campbell Hill.

Officials said a Jeep Wrangler driven by 48-year-old Jay McMillan of Ava was traveling east on Brick Plant Road east of Huseman Road when he swerved to miss hitting a deer in the roadway and lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle left the roadway striking several trees.

McMillan sustained non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the crash. He was transported from the scene by ambulance for treatment at an area hospital.
