Pritzker Signs Bills to Address Violence, Help Crime Victims

(IOCI RADIO) – Gov. J.B. Pritzker signed a package of bills Tuesday to assist crime victims and address the root causes of violence.

One new law will create a co-responded pilot program in Peoria, Springfield, East St. Louis and Waukegan, where police officers will be able to bring mental health professionals on calls to help assess the situation.

Pritzker said the other bills fund efforts to retain police officers and the funeral expenses of children killed in gun violence.
