Illinois reportedly has the highest median income for law enforcement officers in the country and is rated as the third best state in the nation for police officers.
WalletHub released a study Monday ranking police agencies across the country on a number of metrics.
In Illinois the median income for law enforcement officers was rated as top in the nation. Illinois was ranked 8th for median income growth as well as for state and local police protection expenses.
It was ranked 13 in the country for the number of law enforcement officers per capita and 22nd in the country for police deaths per 1,000 officers.
The study considers “Law-enforcement officers” as police and sheriff’s patrol officers, detectives and criminal investigators.
