(IOCI RADIO) – Gov. J.B. Pritzker said the state budget includes record investments in the children of Illinois.
The governor highlighted various youth initiatives and funding increases for after-school programs, summer employment and college map grants at a celebration in Chicago.
House Speaker Chris Welch said the budget allocates $5.5 million towards the “Youth Build” program.
Additionally, the new budget taking effect in July will let the state hire 360 more Department of Children and Family Services workers and funds a program for children with serious mental illnesses.
