Suspect Arrested Monday in Connection to Grayville Shooting

GRAYVILLE – The Illinois State Police Division of Criminal Investigation-Zone 8 is investigating a shooting that allegedly happened in the 1900 block of County Road 2400 North in Grayville Monday afternoon.

According to ISP, 27-year-old Ashton Harper was arrested in connection to the shooting following a pursuit by ISP officers.

Police said a vehicle that was suspected to have been associated with the shooting was found by local police agencies in the Mt. Carmel area later that evening. Several police agencies led by the Wabash County Sheriff’s Office began a pursuit which ended around 9:10 p.m. in southern Lawrence County when Harper was taken into custody.

The Wabash County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation into the pursuit and the associated criminal charges. ISP DCI–Zone 8 is leading the investigation into the shooting that happened in Grayville and this case remains open and on-going.

No further information will be disseminated by ISP at this time.
