Carbondale Public Works Taking Donations to Support Food Banks

CARBONDALE – The City of Carbondale’s Public Works Department has joined dozens of Public Works Departments from across Illinois to collect food and household goods to support local food banks during National Public Works Week, which is underway now through Saturday.

All donations will support the Victory Dream Center and Good Samaritan Ministries Food Pantry at University Baptist Church.

This week, donation bins are set up at Kroger on North Giant City Road and at the Neighborhood Co-op Grocery on West Main Street. Each day there will be a Public Works truck parked on the east side of City Hall. To donate at this location, officials ask to place items in the bed of the city’s truck.

Suggested donations include pasta, canned meats, canned fruit, cereal, cooking oil, canned vegetables, cleaning products, diapers, shampoo, soap, toilet paper, paper towels, and tissues.
