COVID-19 Cases Total 59, One Death Reported in Southern Illinois

SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) Thursday reported 3,394 new COVID-19 cases in Illinois, including 38 additional deaths. In southern Illinois, one death and 59 new cases of coronavirus were reported by health departments throughout the region.

Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 1,331,848 cases, including 21,927 deaths.

Local case breakdown:

  • Williamson County: 15, one death
  • Jackson County: 14
  • Hardin County: 10
  • Franklin County: seven
  • Jefferson County: three
  • Saline, Johnson, Massac and Union counties: two each
  • Perry and Pope counties: one each

The preliminary seven-day statewide test positivity from April 22-28 is 4%.

The total number of COVID-19 vaccine doses for Illinois is 11,546,345. A total of 9,155,989 vaccines have been administered so far in Illinois. The seven-day rolling average of vaccines administered daily is 97,434 doses. On Wednesday, 107,689 doses were reported administered in Illinois.
