ONe Death, 53 New COVID-19 Cases Reported in Southern Illinois

SPRINGFIELD – Wednesday 3,536 new COVID-19 cases, including 31 additional deaths, were reported by the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH). In southern Illinois, 53 new cases of coronavirus and one death were reported by various health departments throughout the region.

Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 1,288,934 cases, including 21,570 deaths.

Local case breakdown:

  • Saline County: 20
  • Williamson County: 18, one death
  • Franklin County: six
  • Jackson County: four
  • Johnson County: two
  • Jefferson, Pope and Union counties: one each

The preliminary seven-day statewide test positivity from April 7-13 is 5%.

The total number of COVID-19 vaccine doses for Illinois is 9,386,135 and a total of 7,482,650 vaccines have been administered so far.

The seven-day rolling average of vaccines administered daily is 132,810 doses. On Tuesday, 138,538 doses were reported administered.
