Illinois Offers Guide for Schools Spending $7B in Relief

SPRINGFIELD – Illinois is offering a detailed guide to help schools decide how to spend $7 billion in federal COVID-19 relief funds stemming from the “American Rescue Plan.”

Education experts created the 180-page “Learning Renewal Resource Guide” together, offing suggestions on how districts can use the money to aid students struggling through the pandemic.

Suggestions included tutoring, counseling, boosting enrollment in pre-school, after school apprentice programs, and more according to state schools superintendent Carmen Ayala.

Experts said they’ll seek input from schools about how ideas are working and take suggestions on other innovative efforts.
