Murphysboro Man Charged in Tuesday Carbondale Shooting

CARBONDALE – A Murphysboro man is facing gun charges after Carbondale Police responded to a report of a shooting in the 1400 block of East Main Street just after 10 a.m. Tuesday.

According to a Carbondale Police press release, detectives arrested 33-year-old Darius Estes of Murphysboro and charged him with aggravated unlawful use of weapons, unlawful use of weapons by a felon, possession of a stolen firearm and armed habitual criminal.

The release stated when officers arrived, they found two victims with gunshot wounds. Everyone involved were acquaintances involved in a personal dispute. Both victims were taken by ambulance to Memorial Hospital of Carbondale for treatment.

Police said the shooting remains under investigation.
