MT. VERNON – SSM Health in Illinois recently hit a milestone as more than 10,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been given. The 10,000th dose was given to Sue Tomlin of Mt. Vernon at the SSM Health Medical Group Primary Care office.
Tomlin stated that she was excited to get the vaccine because she was ready for life to “return to normal” and she was especially excited to be able to travel again.
The healthcare system is currently administering both the Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines at its facilities. As one of the first health care systems in Southern Illinois to receive the vaccine, SSM Health began administering it to its employees in mid-December, starting with frontline workers.
In line with the Illinois Department of Public Health, they’re currently vaccinating individuals in the Phase 1B and 1B+ categories. To make an appointment to receive the vaccine, individuals can register online here.
