Missing Carterville Man’s Remains Positively Indentified

CHRISTIAN COUNTY – The Christian County, Illinois Coroner’s office said positive identification made on skeletal remains found Saturday in rural Pana are those of a missing Carterville man.

Coroner Amy Calvert Winans said Daniel T. Crosby’s remains were identified using dental records, help from their forensic pathologist, a dentist and archaeologist.

Winans noted Crosby’s family has been notified and appreciation for all the people and agencies that helped in the process.

Family and friends of Crosby hadn’t had any contact with him since Feb. 27, 2020 when he was in Pana. Crosby was reported missing to the Carterville Police Department on March 18, 2020.

Illinois State Police said an investigation is ongoing.
