SPRINGFIELD – Illinois House Republicans rolled out their legislative agenda Wednesday, called “Reimagine Illinois.”
Lawmakers introduced around 80 bills addressing four major goals, according to Rep. Jim Durkin.
Specific bills include a “Back the Badge” program to recruit and train police officers, reform the state’s FOID card system, and establishing an apprenticeship education program.
Rep. Avery Bourne of Morrisonville said the GOP’s platform has four major pillars: ensuring public safety, growing jobs, fiscal responsibility, and ending the culture of corruption.
Other specific bills include giving lawmakers more time to look over budget proposals before they are passed.
