IDVA: No COVID-19 Cases at State Veterans’ Homes

SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois Department of Veterans’ Affairs (IDVA) said recently there are currently no cases of COVID-19 at any of the state’s veterans’ homes.

After outbreaks at both the Quincy and Lasalle Veterans’ homes that left at least 60 residents dead, IDVA Chief of Staff Tony Kolbeck said none of the homes have any case at the moment.

Given that and the low community positivity rates, he said testing has been reduced to a minimum of once a week for staff and twice a week for residents.

Kolbeck said staff and residents that chose not to receive the shot are now showing interest in getting the single dose Johnson and Johnson version of the vaccine.
