National Guard to Aid Southern Seven Health Dept. With Vaccines

ULLIN – The Illinois National Guard (ING) will assist the Southern Seven Health Department with mass COVID-19 vaccination centers it’s planning to begin next week.

Nathan Ryder, Outreach Coordinator for Southern Seven’s Contact Tracing Team, said the infusion of extra personnel from the ING will allow Southern Seven’s staff to move through their COVID-19 vaccine registry at a quicker pace.

He added the National Guard members are trained in the different roles of patient registration, vaccination and post-vaccine observation.

Beginning next week, two mass vaccination locations will operate weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m, with one central mass vaccination site serving Pope and Hardin counties once per week.

Alexander County will have two separate locations operating on different days of the week. Mass vaccination locations in Johnson, Massac, and Union counties will each operate twice per week due to the larger populations. Pulaski County’s vaccination site will operate once per week.
