JEFFERSON COUNTY – The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that Interstate 64 from east of Okawville to the Jefferson County line will have intermediate lane restrictions in each direction beginning at 6 p.m. March 8, weather permitting.
Officials said the work is necessary to complete pavement repairs and is anticipated to be completed in July.
Lane closures can be expected between the hours of 6 p.m. and 10 a.m. daily with one lane of traffic in each direction always open. Motorists should allow extra time for trips through the area.
Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
