SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois Department of Transportation is warning the public that a major winter storm will impact travel across the state, with the potential to drop several inches of snow across northern Illinois and hail and freezing rain expected in regions to the south.

The public is advised to plan accordingly and anticipate deteriorating conditions, slick roads and much longer travel times.
