Over 300 COVID-19 Cases Reported in Southern Illinois

SPRINGFIELD – Officials with the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) reported 4,318 new COVID-19 cases, including 33 additional deaths statewide Tuesday. Over 300 cases were confirmed across southern Illinois, with many stemming from multi-day reports.

Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 1,076,532 cases, including 18,291 deaths.

Local case breakdown:

  • Perry County: 89 (since 1/14)
  • Union County: 37
  • Williamson County: 33
  • Jackson County: 21
  • Franklin County: 19
  • Jefferson and Massac counties: 16 each
  • Johnson County: 12
  • Alexander County: 11
  • Hamilton County: 11 (since 1/15)
  • Saline County: 10
  • Pulaski County: eight
  • Pope County: seven
  • White and Hardin counties: five each
  • Gallatin County: two

The preliminary seven-day statewide positivity for cases as a percent of total test from Jan. 12–18 is 5.7 percent.
