SPRINGFIELD – State public health officials Thursday announced 6,652 new COVID-19 cases, including 88 additional deaths in Illinois. Cases of the novel coronavirus totaled 262 among southern Illinois health department reports.
The total number of cases statewide is currently 1,052,682, including 17,928 deaths.
Local case breakdown:
- Perry County: 68 (53 at correctional facility)
- Williamson County: 47
- Jackson County: 28
- Franklin County: 27
- Union County: 22
- Saline County: 18
- White County: 13
- Johnson County: 11
- Massac County: nine
- Hamilton County: five
- Pope and Pulaski counties: four each
- Gallatin, Alexander and Hardin counties: two each
The preliminary seven-day statewide positivity for cases as a percent of total test from Jan. 7 through the 13 is 6.8 percent.
