Lack of Funding Forces Changes for Two Area Senior Citizen Centers

SOUTHERN ILLINOIS – Due to not receiving funding from the state and federal government, the White County Senior Citizens Center in Carmi and the Hamilton County Senior Citizens Center in McLeansboro will began closing Mondays beginning Jan. 1.

According to a release, both centers will be open Tuesday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and meals will be delivered each day. Frozen meals will be offered for Monday’s meal and will be delivered on Friday.

Additionally, both centers will no longer offer evening meals. However, they will still offer frozen meals for the weekend for those who want and/or need them.
