Pritzker: Illinois Ready for Vaccine When Available

SPRINGFIELD – Governor Pritzker said Wednesday Illinois is ready to distribute a COVID-19 vaccine when it’s available.

His comments follow news that pharmaceutical giant Pfizer is seeking federal permission to release the first vaccine. According to reports, the vaccine has had a 90-percent success rate and will be free to the public if approved.

Last month, Illinois laid out a vaccine plan, which would prioritize frontline workers and at-risk populations for the first batch. In the meantime, the governor said the state will continue to find ways to prevent the virus from spreading.
