Williamson, Franklin Counties Combine for 77 New COVID-19 Cases

SOUTHERN ILLINOIS – State health officials Tuesday reported 6,516 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Illinois, including 68 additional deaths.

This brings the total number of cases since the pandemic started to 430,018, including 9,878 deaths statewide.

Local case breakdown:

  • Williamson County: 57, two deaths
  • Jackson County, Jefferson and Saline counties: 25 each
  • Franklin County: 20, one death
  • White County: seven
  • Gallatin County: four

The preliminary seven-day statewide positivity for cases as a percent of total test from Oct. 27–Nov. 2 is 8.2 percent. This is the number that IDPH has been consistently reporting in its daily releases and is calculated using total cases over total tests.

Test positivity is calculated using the number of COVID-19 positive tests over total tests. The preliminary seven-day statewide test positivity from Oct. 27–Nov. 2 is 9.9 percent.
